Zones of the Ocean
Photic Zone
The photic zone is the region of the ocean in which light reaches allowing for photosynthetic organisms to exist in this region.
Aphotic Zone
The aphotic zone is the region of the ocean in which sunlight cannot penetrate and has much colder temperatures than the photic zone.
Abyssal Zone
The abyssal zone is the lowest level of the ocean and is extremely cold and dark.
Benthic Zone
The benthic zone is the ocean floor.
